Hallo!
Ich hab vor einigen Tagen Antecker aus Kato Clay gemacht. Auf der Rückseite hab ich Magnete mit dem blauen UHU schnellfest angeklebt. Nach 2-3 Stunden klebten die Dinger bombenfest und nächsten Tag wurden die Antsecker ohne Probleme getragen. Es hat alles super gehalten. Doch Tags darauf waren die Magnete über Nacht abgegangen. Wie geht denn das?
Bisher hab ich den UHU schnellfest nur für Fimo verwendet und hatte bis dato noch nie Probleme. Ist das schon mal jemanden auch bei Kato Clay passiert?
Um ehrllich zu sein ist es mir unbegreiflich. Kann es sein dass die Weichmacher da einen Tag später den Kleber so angelöst haben das er abging?
Auch ist der Fimo Lack (auf Harzbasis) abgeblättert...sehr eigenartig.
Ich hab noch nicht viel mit Kato Clay gearbeitet aber so wie es scheint braucht das Zeugs lauter spezial auf Kato abstimmets Zubehör.
Hat da wer ähnliche Erfahrungen? Kann ich auf Kato dann in Zukunft nur mit Kato Ankleben oder eben mit Liquid?

Kato Polyclay does not take Flecto Varathane finish well because of it's very smooth and slightly shiney finish
... it may bead up during application and/or peel off after drying.
...their recommended workaround is to apply and bake a layer of liquid clay first, then use the Varathane (see below in Peeling for more) ...(a new finish may be developed by Prairiecraft for Kato Polyclay as well).
....another workaround is to rub the baked clay with acetone before either varnishing (Varathane, et.c) ...or gluing.
........or you can sand the baked clay a bit first
...I have had Flecto bead up on (large expanses of ) glow-in-the-dark, and on Cernit and some Sculpey colors, but no other problems.... and I have pieces that are at least 10 yrs old with no yellowing or peeling. Sarajane
...Kato clays and Glow in the Dark clays (Premo only?) can be too slick for good adhesion of Varathane

WORKAROUND for this problem {Varathane on kato}, from Tony Aquino at Van Aken:
. ..Kato Polyclay (solid clay) has water-repellent properties ...since some waterbase finishes could contain in excess of 50% water in the formulation, those finishes could bead up, puddle, or peel off later when used with it. The key to making those finishes work with Kato Polyclay is surface preparation, though it involves an extra step. There are two ways to do this:
---1. rub a very small amount of Kato Liquid Polyclay into the surface of the cured clay (as if you were waxing it), then remove all excess with a paper towel or soft cloth ...do not cure, just brush on or dip into the Flecto Varathane.
Die Oberfläche vor der Benutzung von Klebstoff zu reinigen ist sowieso eine gute Idee. Wenn z.B. viel Hautfett hat o.ä. kommt das ja auch an den Clay und je glatter die Oberfläche des Clays ist, desto schwieriger wird es darauf Kleber oder Lacke zum Haften zu bringen. Wenn dann noch Hautfett dazukommt kann es halt zu solchen "Ablösungen" kommen.
Bei dem "normalen" Pardo empfiehlt es sich auch die Oberfläche, vor allem vor dem Kleben, mit Alkohol zu reinigen.

Frage 1.
Ich backe eine Clayplatte aus Kato bei 150°. Lass sie auskühlen und klebe auf die Unterseite eine Platte aus Fimo. Dann backe ich das Doppelpack auf 130°...müßte ja eigentlich funktionieren, oder?
Frage 2.
Nur sollte ich aber ein Liquid wischen den Platten vor dem backen aufbringen...nur welches das Fimo Liquid oder das Kato Medium?
Wohl eher das Fimo Liquid, oder? Weil ich den zweiten Durchgang ja nur auf 130° backe. Nuuur...veträgt sich Fimo Liquid mit Kato Clay?
